Bangladesh NGO Foundation Day Observed in Chuadanga and Meherpur - Dainik Mathabhanga

Staff Reporter: Under the theme “Welfare of the Country, Poverty Alleviation, Industriousness, Innovation — The Philosophy and Vision of Bangladesh NGO Foundation,” Bangladesh NGO Foundation Day was observed last Saturday. Rallies and discussion meetings were organized in Chuadanga and Meherpur to mark the occasion.

In Chuadanga, the District Administration and nine partner organizations of Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF) working in the district — RISO, ALAP, PASS, USHA, MKS, RAD, Mouchak, WARP, and Grameen Samaj Unnayan Sangstha — jointly organized the events.

At 10 AM, Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Ziauddin Ahmed inaugurated the event at the DC office premises. In his speech, he stated that such days are observed to accelerate developmental activities and emphasized that NGOs are working tirelessly alongside the government, contributing significantly to national development. The Bangladesh NGO Foundation is a successful government initiative that provides financial assistance to grassroots NGOs, playing an important role in poverty alleviation and national welfare.

The rally concluded at the RISO office, where a discussion session was held, presided over by Ashfakur Rahman, Executive Director of ALAP. Zahidul Islam, Executive Director of RISO, gave the welcome speech. Other speakers included:

  • Ariful Islam, Executive Director of USHA
  • Ilias Hossain, Executive Director of PASS
  • Saidur Rahman Lipu, Executive Director of Grameen Samaj Unnayan Sangstha
  • Abed-ud-Doula, Executive Director of WARP
  • Suraiya Parvin, Representative of Mouchak
  • Liaquat Ali Sheikh, Representative of Muktakalyan Sangstha

In Meherpur, the day was observed with due respect, organized by the District Administration and partner organizations of the Bangladesh NGO Foundation. A discussion meeting was held at the District Council Auditorium, presided over by Moin-Ul-Alam, General Member of the BNF General Assembly and Executive Director of Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha.

Deputy Commissioner Porimal Singh was present as the chief guest. Rafiqul Alam, General Secretary of Meherpur Press Club, and Abu Zafar, Executive Director of Sandhani, were present as special guests. The event was hosted by development worker Murad Hossain, with a welcome speech by Moin-Ul-Alam.

  • Anarul Islam, Executive Director of Rural Vision

Earlier, a colorful rally led by Press Club Secretary Rafiqul Alam started from the Shilpakala Academy premises, marched through the main roads of the city, and concluded at the District Council grounds. NGO leaders, officials, staff, and people from various professions participated in the rally and discussion.
