With the slogan “Let’s Build a Green Bangladesh Through Planned Afforestation,” a Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2025 were inaugurated in Meherpur.

On Sunday morning, the event began with a colorful rally organized by the District Administration and the District Forest Department. The rally started from the Meherpur District Shilpakala Academy, paraded through the main streets of the city, and concluded at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Following the rally, Ms. Sifat Mehnaz, Deputy Commissioner of Meherpur, formally inaugurated the Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair by cutting the ribbon.

After the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner, along with officials from various departments, visited the tree fair stalls and encouraged citizens to plant more trees for environmental conservation. Later, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

The discussion was presided over by Mr. Md. Rezaul Alam, Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, Kushtia, with Ms. Sifat Mehnaz, Deputy Commissioner of Meherpur, as the Chief Guest.

Among others present were Mr. Tarikul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Abdul Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle), Mr. S.T. Hamim Haider, District Forest Officer, Meherpur, Mr. Monirul Huda, BRAC Officer, and Mr. Moin-Ul-Alam, Executive Director of Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha.

Speakers highlighted the vital importance of tree plantation for ecological balance, climate resilience, and sustainable living, urging all citizens to contribute to building a greener and healthier Bangladesh.
